Everton 1 Luton Town 2

What a day. It began at Luton bus station shortly before 9am, and ended in a similar location just before Match of the Day kicked off. What a shame the BBC didn't recall Garth Crooks to the pundit sofa for one night only to reflect on his ridiculous comments made a few weeks ago. 3,000 Luton fans who were up on Merseyside know that this Hatters side are going to hold their own in the Premier League.  A dash from the bus just after 3pm meant we missed the first few minutes but by the time we were standing in the Bullens Upper Luton were well on top. A succession of corners delivered expertly by Alfie Doughty gave the Toffees warning. At the third time of asking Carlton rose like a colossus to thunder a header on to the bar via a Pickford flick. As the ball came rocketing down, Ashley Young must have imagined he was back at the Watford training ground and thought it was time for a shimmy. He had reckoned without Tommy Tommy Lockyer who charged forward and the ball crashed into the ne...

70: All quiet on the Premier League front

70 days to go until Luton kick off a historic Premier League campaign. Not as much news today, ex Luton manager Nathan Jones is reportedly in talks with League One side Reading. Surprising that he is considering a job in League One but we wish him good luck.

The club's official Instagram account is now named @lutontown instead of @ltfc_official. Groundbreaking news.

Sky Sports report that Gabe Osho is in talks over a new contract, having recently had his one year extension triggered. Fully deserved, since November the young centre back has been immense.

The Sun football have surprisingly claimed that Leeds are keeping tabs on super Rob Edwards. More chance of the club ground-sharing with Watford than this happening, surely.

Speaking of the ground, work has apparently started already on rebuilding the Bobbers Stand to be fit for Premier League purpose. This makes sense as the club only have around 10 weeks to prepare for it. It would not be surprising if we start our first game away from home, to afford the club more time to work on the stand.

The Premier League is on the horizon....

Brighton 4 Luton Town 1

A massive day in Brighton yesterday, as the Hatters roared on by 3001 fans and a few extras in the prawn sandwich areas, scored their first ever goal in the Premier League. Yes, Brighton got a few more, but plenty of encouraging signs on the south coast. Five debutants in the Luton Town starting XI - the keeper Kaminski, plus Kabore, Giles, Andersen, and Chong. Bell, Morris and Elijah the only starting survivors of last year's opener at the Kenny against Birmingham at the end of July 2022. For over 30 minutes I thought we looked comfortable. So much so I took a photo of the scoreboard. Brighton had the first booking, and Chong made a great start in midfield, looking committed. Mitoma - later booked for kicking the ball into the crowd - looked a class act throughout the game, and it was his cross late in the first half that saw Bell caught slightly under the ball, and March headed in the opener. Typical Luton we came straight back and forced a corner. A great delivery saw Morris pow...

Chelsea 3 Town 0

Another view from the prawn seats, and a Friday evening trip to the Bridge. Last time I was there as a student Chelsea had a temporary stand and were managed by Glen Hoddle. Now they've got a billionaire in charge, not the Russian but Todd Boehly, who has so far bought 27 players for a sum just shy of £900 million.  Two changes from Super Robbie included a welcome return at the back for Reece Burke, and a surprise start in midfield for ex-blue Ross Barkley. Andersen and Pelly dropped to the bench.  Town made a very tidy start. You could immediately see Barkley's top flight experience when inside two minutes he won a free kick just inside the Chelsea half simply be retaining possession of the ball when challenged. Chong then robbed the £100+ million pound Caicedo a few minutes later, burst forward, before smashing it well wide of the post. Another £100+ million player Enzo escaped a clear yellow for a nasty slap on Kabore, before the same Chelsea player missed a great ch...
